Hi, I’m Will. I am here to give you a voice in the decision
making of Furness. I will amplify your
voices one million times to make sure you get heard. However, I need your support to make this a
reality for you and your peers.
Emily, 12
I
believe that young people need better opportunities. Many people like spray painting. We could provide places so people can do
their art, without messing up our community. Your ideas will be taken on board
to make Furness a stronger community. There could be more improvements in the
schools to make it more fun to learn. I want to help to build bridges between
different generations, and provide opportunities for getting young people
involved with helping older people.
Sian, 13
Hi I’m Siân. I love to talk to people and listen to
music! I became a Furness
Youth Councillor because I believe that every young person in Furness should:
-
Have a voice and an opinion about your local area
-
Have your ideas used by adults to improve your area
-
Be heard by everyone, showing them that your ideas are
realistic and have a good impact.
I will campaign for this and try
very hard for all young people to change their area.
Leia, 13
Hi, I’m Leia. I want to make a difference. I believe that young people should have their
say in the community. We will make
Furness a better place. I am committed
to keeping young people safe and off the streets. I will campaign to bring more clubs and places
for young people to relax and meet people.
Chloe, 11
I am honest and reliable.
I became a Furness Youth Councillor because I am passionate about bringing more clubs and activities to the Furness
area. I really hope to achieve this.
Abigail, 11
Hi, I am Abigail. I signed up to be on the Furness Youth
Council to give young people a better childhood in Furness. I am committed to
keep young people off the streets.
That’s why, as a Furness Youth Councillor, I will try my hardest to get more clubs
going.
Jack, 13
I am reliable and would never forget what you have to say
to change Furness. I have experience in working with young people as I am a
member of the Youth Re:Action Team working with the Furness Youth Council. I am
a teenager myself and I know what it’s like to be given a bad name
sometimes. I am standing as candidate to
change what people have to say about us and make them change their minds for
the better of our community
Sheridan, 12
Hi,
my name is Sheridan. I wanted to be a Furness Youth Councillor
because I want all of the 11 to 18 year olds in Furness to have their say. I want to help Furness. Now I am going to tell you a bit about myself. I love working with people and make their
dreams come true. Thank you for reading
my information on being a FYC.
Toby, 11
My aim is to stop
building anymore skate parks but to build more normal parks for younger kids. To
stop litter infestation and dog muck. I would like to see more things for
teenagers like ice skating rink and things like that to help them keep safe off
the streets and out of trouble. Kids
rule! I will get their voices heard.
Matthew, 11
I
will talk to you about what I believe.
I believe every child should have their say, regardless of their origin
or beliefs. I believe that us kids
should be able to stand out and speak out.
Would you like to have your say on the dramatic changes of Furness? I very much hope so. So come on, join me and many others in
changing Furness for good.
Sophie, 14
As a youth councillor,
I will listen to ideas and views from you (the youth of Furness) and try my
best to make your ideas achievable. Making changes to the area to make the
community better for each other.
Connor, 12
There
are many things in life for you to do, and many places for us to live. By voting for me we can help Furness to
become a better place, and make it a more popular place to live and work. We will create many more things to do and
help the community grow. Together we can
modernise and improve your local area and life.
As the world changes, you have the right to change with it.
Jasmine, 14
Hey, I’m Jasmine and I want to make
a difference for you. I believe
that every member of the youth community in Furness deserves to be heard. We are the future and together WE can make
YOUR ideas happen.
Nicole, 14
Hi, my name is Nicole and I want to
be a Furness Youth Councillor because I want to put more clubs and
organisations around Furness for teenagers to come along to. Also, make Barrow and other Furness areas a
better place.
I go to St Bernard’s Catholic High School and I’m in Year 10 and I
love my sports because I am a very active person and I also love helping other
people with sports, especially people with disabilities.
Daisy, 15
I became a Youth Councillor because:
- I want to give young people a say,
as your views count!
- I think that a negative view of
youth is wrong, and it needs to change
- I think I am open to your views, I
will not judge and will pass on opinions
By voting for me I could help change
Barrow and the Furness area for the better, creating a stronger link between
young people and the council.
"Young people are tomorrow's
future"
Shannon, 15
Hi my name is Shannon Riley and I am
15 years old. I became a member of the
Furness Youth Council because I want to help to improve the Furness area. To
try and get more out-of-school clubs going that people are going to be involved
in and some new and exciting experiences especially teenagers. I am a teenager myself and so it makes things easier
for me to understand what young people my age and around Furness would want
like to see happen. I feel like we should be heard and would like to voice my
opinion to represent teens in the area.
Stacey, 16
Hiya I’m Stacey. I became a Furness
Youth Councillor so that I can change things in your lives and let you be
heard. I would try and help the playing
areas for children be kept much cleaner and better used and not wrecked. I
think there should be more things for people to do, and more inclusive
activities for children with disabilities.
I am a reliable and responsible and I’m good at listening.
Jess, 17
I
would like to represent you by listening to your opinions and ideas and
ensuring these are voiced at Council meetings where these ideas may become a
reality, benefiting you and all young people in Furness.
Sarah, 16
Hi I’m Sarah. I became a Furness Youth Council Candidate because I want to fight for
equality and fairness for every young person in Furness. My hope for the area is that the whole of
Furness is connected, and that all the young people feel like they belong to
one community. I want change for the
future of Furness, and united together we can make that change.
I'll be good at representing you because I’m
confident and enthusiastic. I’m a
student at Barrow 6th Form College, and I also work as a volunteer at
the Hospital Radio, and I’ve also been working on the Youth Council planning
group.
Hayley, 16
Hi, I’m Hayley and I want to be a youth councillor because I want to give the youth in Furness a voice and turn those ideas into a reality. I want to make a positive change in the community so that the Furness area is a better place for everybody now and for future generations. I am a responsible person, so I will attend all the Furness Youth Council meetings and I was also on the Furness Youth Council steering group, so I understand fully how the youth council will work.
